Welcome to LFD!

Welcome to Libraries For Democracy! We are here to provide you with factual, useful, non-partisan information on politics and the important social issues of the day.

Our purpose is to help all Americans become better informed, more effective citizens. Without your informed participation, America could easily cease to be a democracy. LFD will try to make it interesting, worthwhile, and even fun to be well-informed about politics and social issues.  We are the thinking person's complete political resource and networking site! Please let us and each other know what you think about political and social issues by using the LFD forum and by responding to LFD blogs & features.

Using LFD will help you strengthen America’s freedom, democracy, equality of opportunity, and general economic  prosperity. This site is called Libraries For Democracy because it was created by librarians who believe libraries are bulwarks of American democracy. LFD partners with your local library and with librarians all over America to develop reliable, non-partisan information to help all of us make good decisions for America. Ask your local library if it is an LFD Certified Democracy Center and please join in the democracy-related programs it provides. American democracy depends on you!

I give them to participants at democracy-related programs at my library. I…
